We have had a lot of the same questions and issues come up, so here are some things that you need to know about blogging on MySpace that will hopefully clear up some of the confusion.
.Once a blog reply has been posted, we do not remove it. Under the original posting from Charlie is how you do that. It would seem that you should find the Next arrow to go to page 2 at the bottom of the page, but it's at the end of the original blog. For instance right now it shows 'Listing 1-50 of 60' pages 1 and 2 and the Next arrow to get to the pages. So be sure and check there before you write and ask why your entry wasn't posted and what you did wrong or said wrong. Chances are it was posted and you said nothing wrong. We can't guarantee that a MySpace glitch won't happen, and we suggest that you keep a copy of your thoughts just in case, but please check for multiple pages of postings first.
Most importantly, and I can't emphasize this enough, when you send in a reply to someone's blog, they do NOT have the ability to edit your blog reply! On both of our blogs, people have written in and then said, "Oh, I shouldn't have said that! Please edit out that comment" We can't do that. Even if we could, we wouldn't censor or edit nor have the time to edit people's blog replies. Either the whole blog reply goes up as you have written it to begin with, or we have to deny it and that deletes it. So please make sure you want to say what you did before you hit 'Send' OK? If it fits the guidelines that we have, it's going to get posted.
REMEMBER - These are YOUR thoughts. Please do not send a bunch of quotes of other people in your blog replies. Some people are sending entire articles written by someone else. We aren't going to put those up. We do not allow HTML which means, no links to other websites. Again, we can't emphasize enough - These are YOUR thoughts and words. Please don't put a bunch of someone else's in your replies. Please don't use this as a way to promote yourself or something you are selling, because we won't post those, no personal attacks toward one another and use respectful language. Other than that. . . everything gets posted.
In addition to that, some of his blogs have sparked some wonderful and very passionate responses which he LOVES! Be aware that if you post something on the blog, someone else may write in reply to what you said, and that is how it works! You are supposed to discuss with each other. So please be respectful of each other in your responses and replies to the other posters and make sure you want to say what you have before you hit 'Send.'
Some people don't understand why they don't get notified when Charlie has posted a new blog. Just because you are on someone's friends list, does not mean that you will automatically know when they have posted a new blog or added new content to their MySpace page. You have to actually subscribe to the blog and then when a brand new topic is posted, you will get a message in your inbox on your MySpace page telling you that you have a new blog subscription post waiting for you to read. The best way to keep up with your favorite people and what they are doing is to subscribe to their blogs. Click here to subscribe to Charlie's blog
Another slightly confusing thing about MySpace is that when Charlie responds to one of you in the blog, the only way you will know that is to actually keep looking at the blog and scrolling through the replies to see. You will see his photo next to any reply he has made to one of you. You don't get an alert message in your inbox when he posts a reply. The blog is meant to be a discussion between everyone participating. Charlie reads all of your reponses, and when he is able to, he will add more of his own comments, but it is meant to be a disucussion amongst everyone posting thoughts. He is blogging to promote discussion of topics that he wants to share and get everyone to think about and comment on to each other.
About bulletins. Some people post several bulletins a day. Only the first few show up on our MySpace pages, but they do go out to everyone on your friends lists. This is another way to have people keep up with what is going on in your MySpace page. We do not however, post bulletins when Charlie has posted a new blog, but he doesn't mind at all if you want to tell the people on your friends list to check out his blog because you think they might enjoy getting involved in the discussions. Everyone's opinion is welcome.
A lot of people are writing privately afraid to post on the blog for fear of what the reaction to their opinion is. Again, please don't be! Join in on the discussions and remember, though you can comment on other people's replies, no personal attacks against anyone or against grammar and spelling mistakes. English is not the primary language for everyone that wants to join in and even if it is your primary language, everyone makes mistakes. We want everyone to feel comfortable posting and joining in on the discussions.
