Charles Shaughnessy Celebrity Auction for Hurricane Relief

A Great Big THANK YOU!!!

8 january, 2006

I want to thank each and every one of you who supported our efforts from the very beginning, who helped us out with the auction, and everyone who bid and/or purchased an item in the auction. I was overwhelmed with the response and the success of the auction. It has been just heartwarming to me and truly, I thank each of you from the bottom of my heart.

As you know our goal was to make this auction accessible to a vast majority of fans by offering items that were not big ticket items. To facilitate that, most of the items started at $25.00. On the 80 items that were sold, we raised an astonishing $13,000!!! 100% of all the money raised went to 3 non-profit organizations designated specifically to help the victims of the hurricanesHabitat For Humanity, The Humane Society and The Southern Arts Federation - Emergency Relief Fund Please check out the websites to see what they are doing in the hurricane stricken areas.

Just as an extra little thank you, I wanted to do one last surprise thing with this phase of the auction and that was to randomly pick someone who had bid on or bought an item, to receive a signed and dedicated item from me. So, we put the names of everyone that bid on something and/or won something in the auction in a big box, then I pulled one name out at random. I chose a t-shirt that I had gotten when I appeared on Hollywood Squares, and signed and dedicated it to the winner. The person that won the item was Aileen from Puerto Rico. So to her, I hope you enjoy it, and again, to each and every one of you, for your kindness, your help, your support thank you all so much. as always . . .charlie

this is what it was all about

I know that you are all finding your own ways to express support and encouragement to those so desperately in need right now. Everyone is digging as deeply as they can to help out. After having done what I could in terms of financial aid, I was compelled to do more. Those of you who know me, know that I truly believe that every one person CAN make a difference and with all of us working together, I knew that our efforts could alleviate some of the pain and suffering and help survivors to rebuild their lives. So, what to do? I decided to organize an online auction of celebrity memorabilia, to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and in the process, everyone does an act of kindness, and you the fans, got some pretty cool stuff from your favorite entertainers.

We contacted our friends and colleagues in the entertainment business from television, movies, music, artists, & writers to donate memorabilia for you, the fans to purchase and in turn, help support this effort. We recognize that the process of rebuilding will go on for a long time to come, long after this is no longer a front burner story.

There were so many people working together to make this auction happen, so to everyone who donated their time and items we want to thank all of you for your contributions for helping us make this the HUGE success that it was

Survivors of Hurricane Katrina Need Your Help

On August 29, 2005 Hurricane Katrina left horrible devastation on the United States Gulf Coast, espeically in the states of Alabama, Louisianna and Mississippi.

Like all of you, our hearts go out to those affected by this terrible disaster. Money is needed immediately to provide safe water, sanitation, food, shelter, medication and clothing and to aid rescue efforts. If you would like to help survivors and their families, please consider making a cash donation. We have listed several agencies below.

Remember, any amount will help. If you are not able to donate in this manner, perhaps you can find ways in your local communities that are having fund raisers, or come up with your own ideas. Every bit helps.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this disaster and we wish all of them and the tireless rescue workers, godspeed.
